The Best Taboo Kite Revolutionizes the World of Kiting
Best Kiteboarding has just unveiled their latest masterpiece, the Best Taboo Kite! This kite is replacing the Best Nemesis NXG kite in their 2011 lineup as the next high performance machine. The coolest thing about the Taboo is that each size is independently optimized for those wind conditions. Most kite manufacturers just dial in a 9 or 11m, and then size everything up and down on the scale from there. But a 15m with those same relative dimensions isn’t always the best. So they took the time to tweak each size ranging from 4.5m all the way up to 17 (which will be amazing for those light Jetty days).

Best dubs this as a radical new approach to kite design. According to this article from The Kiteboarder Magazine, “Each kite is unique, with unique geometry, unique construction techniques, unique product features, and even unique materials being selected for specific sizes based on their intended use. We call it ‘Ride optimized Geometry.’”
They utilized their extremely talented bank of team riders to help with the R&D on this daunting task. The small kites in the lineup are optimized for control, stability and unhooked performance since these are often the kites used in strong winds. Best acheived it’s goal of making these small kites reactive and direct with light bar pressure. The kites in the middle of the lineup are gear towards lift, power, boost, and hangtime. Naturally, the biggest kites in the family are extremely efficient, aerodynamic, fast turning, and they sit nice and foward in the window to help you rocket upwind in even the lightest breeze (which also makes these a great course racing option).
These kites are due to drop this September. Can’t wait to get our hands on them!
